Federico La Penna received a positive review from Gazzetta dello Sport this morning after officiating Inter’s 4-0 win over Lecce.

Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Candreva were all on target for the Nerazzurri as Antonio Conte got his tenure off to the perfect start.

Lecce were reduced to 10 men for the final 15 minutes after Diego Farias made a reckless challenge on Nicolo Barella.

GdS confirmed La Penna had made the right decision in giving Farias a straight red card, before rounding up the other key incidents in the match.

“In the 35th minute there was a push on Andrea La Mantia in Inter’s box, but it wasn’t clear how strong it was,” they recalled.

“There was no VAR review but Lecce’s players did not protest much.

“The first booking of the match came for Jacopo Petriccione on 38 minutes, after a tactical foul on Stefano Sensi during a counter-attack. Lautaro Martinez was also right to be cautioned two minutes later for a dangerous challenge on Andrea Rispoli.

“With 81 minutes on the clock, Matteo Politano had a goal ruled out for offside after Lukaku became involved in play.”

Inter’s next Serie A fixture will take place against Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday.
