Inter are considering a move for Monaco’s Pietro Pellegri while they search for an understudy to Romelu Lukaku, according to Tuttosport.

The Nerazzurri want some back-up for the Belgian but they will need to keep costs down in whatever deal they strike before Monday’s deadline.

Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin have studied free agents such as Seydou Doumbia and Wilfried Bony, but they are also waiting to see what opportunities arise.

Pellegri was already linked to Inter earlier this summer when Inter were in talks with Monaco over Joao Mario and Ivan Perisic.

The 18-year-old missed almost the entire 2018-19 season in Ligue 1 due to a groin injury, making just three appearances at the beginning of the campaign.

In December 2016, Pellegri equalled Amedeo Amadei’s 79-year record as the youngest player to make his debut in Serie A, playing for Genoa aged 15 years and 280 days.

Inter nearly signed the Italian and his teammate Eddie Salcedo in 2017, agreeing a combined fee with Genoa which could have risen to €60 million.
