Inter could soon receive an offer from Juventus worth €35 million plus Mario Mandzukic for their striker Mauro Icardi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri’s CEO Beppe Marotta held ‘conciliatory’ talks over the phone with his former colleague Fabio Paratici yesterday, following a summer dominated by tension.

Inter are still hoping to swap Icardi for Paulo Dybala, but Juventus have no intention of arranging such a deal.

GdS reported: “After a bit of initial embarrassment, Marotta and Paratici broke the ice very quickly. Friends close to both assured they shared a couple of jokes and raised a few smiles like old times.

“Their conversation did not produce any particular acceleration in terms of transfer talks. They didn’t have time to begin any negotiations, nor did they arrange what would have been an even more important face-to-face meeting.”

Inter are unlikely to accept Juve’s cash-plus-player offer for Icardi, assuming it indeed arrives, meaning it is still likely Maurito will remain in Milan until at least January.

Marotta and Paratici’s contact nonetheless showed the clubs were willing to rebuild their bridges after battling for various objectives in the transfer market.

The final seven days of the window will be shrouded in uncertainty and a deal between Italy’s two greatest rivals seems a little more possible after yesterday’s phone call.
