Marcelo Brozovic was already looking ahead to Inter’s next match against Cagliari after helping them overcome Lecce on Monday night.

Antonio Conte’s side recorded a convincing 4-0 win at San Siro with Brozovic’s first-half strike being followed up by goals from Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Candreva.

Brozovic said the Nerazzurri deserved their victory but insisted they had little time to celebrate their opening day success.

He told InterTV: “It was a nice win tonight. Perhaps we misplaced too many passes in the first 15 minutes, but we played much better after that.

“I’m not that interested in the goal, the victory counts for more. My teammates are all great guys so when I score I want them all to be there.

“We need to always give 100%. We need to fight, win and look forwards. I hope the gap with Juventus and Napoli can be reduced but let’s think about Cagliari now.

“Let’s hope we can always win.”

Inter were cheered on by a packed crowd at San Siro, which recorded its largest attendance on the first weekend of the season since the 2010-11 campaign.

Brozovic added: “We reached 75,000 fans tonight which really is a lot. I can only say thank you to everyone: let’s hope that number is even higher for the next match.”
