Mauro Icardi reiterated his desire to stay at Inter today when the striker held talks with the club’s management, according to Sky Sport.
Inter are showing no sign of backing down from their original position and want Maurito to understand he has no future with the Nerazzurri.
But Icardi is not budging either and made this clear when approached by president Steven Zhang at Appiano Gentile today.
The standoff which has lasted since the beginning of the summer is still nowhere near its conclusion, with only six days of the transfer window left.
Icardi did not attend Inter’s first Serie A match of the season last night as Antonio Conte’s side beat Lecce 4-0 at San Siro.
He appears to remain convinced he can persuade Conte to give him a second chance, but this seems extremely unlikely given everything Conte has done so far.
Icardi has not played in a single match since the former Juventus boss arrived and is being excluded from tactical drills in training.
