Napoli have given Mauro Icardi another 48 hours to accept a move to the Partenopei, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Icardi appears to have shown no sign of wanting to join Napoli thus far, with reports suggesting he wants to stay at Inter and fight for a second chance.

Napoli initially set a deadline for yesterday but they will now wait until Thursday before definitively withdrawing their interest.

Fernando Llorente has been lined up as a Plan B and will sign a two-year deal once the chase for Maurito ends.

Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli met the former Tottenham striker on Saturday and moved closer to agreeing personal terms.

Inter were also linked with Llorente last week as a potential understudy to Romelu Lukaku, but the Nerazzurri appear to have run out of time to make that deal happen.

Icardi was left out of Antonio Conte’s match-day squad last night as Inter beat Lecce 4-0 at San Siro.

Before kick-off, CEO Beppe Marotta criticised comments made by Wanda Nara on Sunday, denying any suggestion that somebody high up at Inter had asked Icardi to stay.
