Steven Zhang and Beppe Marotta are both at Appiano Gentile this afternoon ahead of a possible meeting with Mauro Icardi, according to Sky Sport.

Inter’s hierarchy were expected to meet the striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara on Tuesday and reiterate Icardi has no future at the club.

But the pair’s simultaneous presence at training means it is not implausible Zhang and Marotta also held talks with Icardi himself.

Maurito was left out of Antonio Conte’s match-day squad last night as Inter beat Lecce 4-0 in their first Serie A fixture of the new season.

Icardi remains determined to stay at Inter and convince Conte to give him a second chance, despite all evidence suggesting this will be impossible.

Speaking to Dazn before kick-off yesterday, Marotta flatly denied claims from Wanda Nara that a high-profile figure at Inter had encouraged Icardi to stay put this summer.

Inter’s CEO also made it clear they were ‘a bit annoyed’ by the timing of Wanda’s comments, arriving just six days before the end of the transfer window.
