Inter have given up on their attempts to sign Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt’s Croatian international striker Ante Rebic, Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia’s transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
According to the report, Inter had blocked the player while they were pondering to release Italian international Matteo Politano with Fiorentina making a €30 million offer for the former Sassuolo man.
However, the Nerazzurri decided in the end to decline all offers for Politano taking off the transfer market and preferring to retain his services over the Croatian international who is now stranger to the Serie A having already represented Fiorentina and Hellas Verona.
This has prompted Inter’s crosstown rivals AC Milan to move swiftly in and make an offer to the Bundesliga outfit of a loan with a forced option to buy set at around €25-30 million if Rebic makes a set amount of first team appearances.
Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Rebic has asked not to be called up to the match squad to face Fortuna Dusseldorf this afternoon as he edges closer to a comeback to the Serie A.
