Benoit Cauet has heaped praise upon Mauro Icardi following the Argentine’s deadline day transfer to French giants Paris Saint Germain.
“Icardi is a top level player. If I had to describe him and liken him to another striker, I would say that he is a bit similar to David Trezeguet. He is very very good in the penalty box and has what it takes to score 25 goals a season. Thanks to his time at Barcelona, he has really good technique which allows him to be really effective in the box,” Cauet told French news outlet L’Equipe.
Cauet, who spent four years on Inter’s books between 1997-2001, then discussed Icardi’s move to PSG and what that now means for another of his former sides and their attack.
“Having signed him, PSG now have an army in the attack. I think he is a different player to those that they already have. Cavani for example is someone who works for the team but Icardi is different.”
