Gianfelice Facchetti is of the belief that had his father, the legendary Giacinto Facchetti, still been around, he would share the same outlook on things as current Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta.
Marotta has received a lot of praise in the media in recent days for the work he put in during the transfer window and how he handled the difficult situations of the likes of Mauro Icardi.
“I knew that at the time, when Marotta was at Atalanta, my father was thinking of bringing him to Milan. My father would have shared Marotta’s line at Inter: clear ideas and the courage to make difficult and extreme choices,” Facchetti remarked in an interview with Tutto Mercato Web.
Asked about the progress Inter have made recently, he added: “I am confident that the results can be achieved. The gap with Juventus is still there, but Inter have put some things in place to improve.”
In conclusion, he was asked whether he thinks Inter are ahead of Napoli.
“Napoli have consolidated themselves behind Juventus. If it weren’t for this Juventus team, Napoli would have certainly won something. Inter must show on the pitch that they are on the same level as Napoli.”
