Ciro Venerato is of the belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte opposing Matteo Politano’s proposed transfer from Inter to Fiorentina is a sign that Conte wants to utilise the player.

“In my eyes, Politano is best suited as a winger in a 4-3-3 system. He cannot play as a wing back in a 3-5-2 system like Antonio Candreva can,” the journalist remarked in an interview with Radio Sportiva.

“Conte will have to work on him but he opposed his sale when Fiorentina had made an important bid for him which shows he has not rejected him.”

Italian international Politano, who the Nerazzurri signed on a permanent basis from Sassuolo for €20 million during the Summer transfer window, has made two substitute appearances for Inter this season and can consider himself unfortunate not to have a goal to his name having had one chopped off due to one of his Inter teammates being offside.
