Former Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic also paid tribute to his treble winning teammate Samuel Eto’o following the 38-year-old Cameroonian’s announcement that he was retiring from football.
The Serbian said on Instagram: “Congratulations on your career and good luck for your new challenges! Samuel, a hug from ‘your gypsy captain’!!!”
Stankovic played for the Nerazzurri for nine years between 2004 and 2013 after a six-year spell in Rome with Lazio. The duo famously won the treble together in the 2009/10 season.
