Gazzetta dello Sport, Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport, three of Italy’s biggest sport media outlets, have commented on Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi’s performance in Italy’s 2-1 EURO 2020 qualifier win over Finland last night.

Gazzetta dello Sport said: “In the first half he played in the Verratti role and whilst a little less dominant in the game, he was still close to the two goals. His physique betrayed him, he lost the ball and gave away a penalty. He managed himself physically and played well.”

Turin based news outlet Tuttosport meanwhile said: “Until the mistake that caused the penalty, he had been the best both in terms of tactical intelligence and technique. In addition to this, he was looking to score as evidenced by his volley attempt in the first half.”

Corriere dello Sport had the following to add on his performance: “He played in place of Verratti but was not Verratti. He had excellent technique and played a really good game but the double mistake – where he lost the ball and gave away a penalty – that allowed Finland to equalise was bad.”
