Noted Italian journalist Alessandro Alciato has spoken on the importance of Andrea Ranocchia to Inter and his revival under Antonio Conte.

“In Conte, he has found a coach who believes in him a lot. Spalletti also believed in him too. He is someone who never complains, even when deployed as a striker or when the captain’s armband was taken off of him,” Alciato said in an interview with Sky Sport.

“During the Icardi chaos, he was an another captain for the team. His teammates came to him and asked him for advice and he spoke in the dressing room. He is a captain even without the armband. His actions were appreciated by the team and the club leadership. He is someone who can give so much.”

Injuries have opened up space for Ranocchia to play and Alciato concluded by sharing his belief that the Italian will still see the pitch even once everyone is back.

“There will certainly be room for him this year. If you are not up to par, you don’t play under Conte. If Ranocchia plays it is because Conte thinks it is best for Inter.”
