Inter president Steven Zhang is to be elected on to the European Club Association board today according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

“In the corridors of Geneva, where work began yesterday, rumor has it that Zhang could be elected to the Board, while De Laurentiis would go to the Club Competition Committee, which is then the UEFA commission which decides on the formats and regulations of the cups,” the report begins.

Zhang has been joined in Switzerland by Inter chief executive’s Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and Alessandro Antonello and head of communications Matteo Pedinotti.

The report also discussed ECA president Andrea Agnelli’s plans for Champions League reform.

“Agnelli’s project includes four groups of eight teams, a system with promotion and relegation between the three tournaments, a total of 21 matches and the top six in each group are guaranteed a place in the next edition, which would limit the number of clubs that can qualify from their leagues to just 4.”
