Romelu Lukaku has shared his delight following Belgium’s 4-0 rout of Scotland with them now on the brink of qualification for EURO 2020.

“It was a nice goal, it’s been some time since we scored that way. We proved to be one of the most dangerous teams in the world on the counterattack,” he told Sky Sports after last night’s match.

“The most important thing is that the team continues to play like this tonight. After San Marino, many people were disappointed and so were we. Tonight we showed a little more concentration and moments of high intensity. We have scored good goals.

“I was also happy with my assist, De Bruyne scored beautifully. I understand that Roberto Martinez wants me to take advantage of these opportunities to train better, since I didn’t have the ideal preparation because of my situation in Manchester. I was able to work tactically and physically and now I’m ready for the rest of the season.

He then spoke on being able to work under Antonio Conte at Inter.

“I’m finally with Conte, a coach who wanted me for a long time. We have a good group, like here in the national team, I was happy to see some of my friends here. We didn’t concede goals, and now we have to – individually – try to keep ourselves in the best shape to be even stronger the next time we meet again.”

He concluded by discussing racism in football.

“My words were few but powerful, everyone understood. Now I think the Serie A is moving , I hope that UEFA and FIFA will be next. And I also hope the FA, because many of my friends play in the Premier League.”
