The total wage bill for all Serie A clubs totals over €1 billion according to a report from Milan based news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The salary count in Serie A has never been so huge and when the salaries of the managers is brought into the equation, it only inflates further.

This can almost directly be linked to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus and the Bianconeri in general. The Portuguese pockets a handsome €31 million a season whilst Juventus’s wage bill is first in the league by some distance with them paying out €294 million a season.

Inter have the second largest wage bill in the league with €139 million with the club’s highest earner being club record signing Romelu Lukaku, who earns a base salary of €7.5 million with the potential to go as high as €9 million as a result of bonuses.

Roma are third with a wage bill of €125 million, Milan fourth with €115 million and Napoli are in fifth place with €103 million.
