Giuseppe Bonomi, the chief executive of Milanosesto, has suggested an alternative area of Milan for Inter and AC Milan to build their new proposed stadium if the current San Siro area is unsuitable for their plans.
The alternative to San Siro would be the former Falck areas of Sesto San Giovanni where there is lots of land available.
“We must develop the largest urban implementation plan in Europe. We are ready, in case there was the opportunity, to host the new stadium of Inter and Milan,” Bonomi said in an interview with news agency ANSA.
“We are revisiting the development plan, given that the previous one was dated. The area of over 1.5 million square metres has enormous potential and will have multiple buildings, among which could be other sporting facilities, such as a swimming pool.
“If the project the clubs present has problems, we are very much ready. The area is adequate, it is a part of greater Milan and an area that must be regenerated and rebuilt as an important part of the city and can be a credible alternative to San Siro.”
