Former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga has recalled an anecdote from the 2015 Summer transfer window whilst he was in charge of Sampdoria when former employers Inter came in for Eder.
“Inter were pushing to pick him up on transfer deadline day and Roberto Soriano was practically already sold. I went to a hotel in Milan and stayed there all day with Massimo Ferrero, Antonio Romei and Carlo Osti trying to do the impossible by keeping both Eder and Soriano,” he explained in an interview with Il Secolo XIX.
“I managed to convince both of them to stay but then the club did not have the patience with me but that is another story…”
Zenga would be sacked months later and Inter would succeed in acquiring Eder in the next transfer window. The Italo-Brazilian joined the club initially on loan before being bought permanently and made 76 appearances before moving to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning in 2018.
