Former Cesena sporting director Rino Foschi has shared his delight at seeing Stefano Sensi succeeding at Inter following his Summer transfer to the Nerazzurri.
“Sensi is an exceptional talent. His explosion at very high levels does not surprise me at all. He has an extraordinary personality and speed of thought that make him one of the strongest midfielders around,” he explained in an interview with FCInterNews.it.
“I had just returned to Cesena as a director and in the Primavera side I saw this tiny midfielder who enchanted me when he was on the ball. I sent him out to get experience at San Marino and the following year I handed him the keys to the midfield.
“Many were sceptical about his size but not me because talent is not measured by height. To those who raised doubts, I always reminded them that Marco Verratti is smaller than him and is at PSG.
“I also want to speak about him on a human level. He is a decent guy, perhaps too much for football. I am really fond of him and I can seem a bit biased, but believe me.”
He concluded by discussing Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta’s long-standing interest.
“We sold Sensi in January 2016 for €5 million more bonuses to Sassuolo who bought it in synergy with Juventus. At the helm of the Juventus leadership was Marotta. Evidently Beppe liked him at the time and this summer he played a part in bringing him to Inter. In signing him, Inter really made a big signing.”
