Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta believes that his beloved Rossoneri are behind city rivals Inter heading into this weekend’s first Derby della Madonnina of the season.
“The Milan players still have to grow, Inter seems to be further ahead and more solid. It is difficult to predict how Saturday’s game will go but as I say, the Nerazzurri seem to me, to be ahead,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.
Inter come into the match in perfect form having won all three of their Serie A games to date and are currently sitting pretty at the top of the league table.
Milan on the other hand are down in seventh having picked up two wins and a loss in their opening three fixtures of the 2019/20 Serie A campaign.
Inter won both of the Milan derbies 1-0 and 3-2 respectively last season. Milan last won a derby back in 2017 in the Coppa Italia and their last league win in the derby came the season before that.
