Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has provided an update on the situation concerning Inter and AC Milan’s proposed new stadium that will replace San Siro.

“My position on the San Siro and on a new stadium in Milan has always been clear. Thanks to the explanations from the two clubs, it is finally evident to everyone that it is not the municipal administration that wants to give up San Siro,” he explained in a post on his Facebook page.

“The clubs intend to build a new stadium which is more functional to their needs. As Mayor, I certainly have a duty to listen to their proposals and, in any case, to enforce the rules and so will the other council members who will meet with AC Milan and Inter today to start the process of learning about the new stadium and then start an in-depth study of the project.”
