Italian journalist Matteo Barzaghi spoke to Italian media outlet Sky Sports today after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the Milanese derby last night.
“We have arrived at Conti-ism, the derby is an example of this, it was a team in the image and likeness of its coach. From the game system, 3-5-2, with the attackers pressing hard, to the impenetrable defence with Godin who entered as a leader in the department. The midfielders, a team that in the ferocity has really seemed a team of Conte.”
Barzaghi then spoke about coach Antonio Conte’s attitude after the team’s disappointing performance against Slavia Prague in the Champions League earlier this week.
“After the game against Slavia Prague, Conte arrived very angry in the interview area. And whoever was there with me, perhaps, had the feeling that Inter would have done well in the derby, I’m not saying a win, but that they would have done well. Because he was so angry at the draw.”
“And what happened? Inter hadn’t lost three nil but had drawn one one. Okay, but seeing Conte so angry made everyone realise that it would be an intense week at Appiano Gentile, from the point of view of training, but also from the point of view of the reaction that would be asked of the players. A reaction that arrived in the derby.”
