Antonio Conte will face his former player Fabio Quagliarella tonight when Inter travel to play Sampdoria, after the striker overcame a neck injury this week, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The pair have history stemming back to their time together at Juventus, when Conte pushed the player away from the squad following the 36-year-old’s decision not to accept a transfer away from the Bianconeri halfway through the season.
The Sampdoria captain, who missed the club’s 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina on Wednesday, is set to be the focal point in attack for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side.
Last season’s capocannoniere will be hoping to upset Conte’s Inter tonight, as the Nerazzurri are currently top of the table after a perfect start, whereas Quagliarella’s team are bottom of the pile after a disastrous opening to the championship.
So far this season the Italian has scored two goals in five league games for the Blucerchiati.
