Former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi spoke to Italian media outlet Sky Sports today about his experiences at Inter and his thoughts on the current squad.

“I think I was lucky enough to do the things that amused me the most. Football has changed a lot since then. Someone said: ‘if you’d trained…’. I’m happy to have played in the ’80s, I keep the good with the bad. Getting up at a certain age with a smile again is a great satisfaction.”

“I decided to stop when I entered the locker room and saw that I was having a hard time even just taking my clothes off. I realized that I was no longer doing it with joy. I stopped early, but I had been playing since I was 10 years old. I could have lived a couple of years longer, but psychologically I couldn’t do it anymore.”

The former player spoke of his memories of the Milan derby and a certain game against Real Madrid.

“The atmosphere when I entered that stadium was to see who had worn that shirt before me, from Suarez onward. I have the shivers thinking of Inter-Real Madrid where there was the whole stadium that chanted my name. Having left a small space in Inter’s history makes me proud.”

Finally, Beccalossi spoke of the current Nerazzurri squad.

“I hope that Inter will be there to play for the Scudetto in May too. I think it’s hard to say now that Inter will win the championship. But they are people who have great motivation. I believe it, I know how they work.”

“I pretend I don’t know that Juve are two points behind. The Bianconeri and Napoli have had a project for a long time, Inter have changed several players.”
