Referee designator Nicola Rizzoli is expected to assign Gianluca Rocchi to referee this weekend’s first Derby D’Italia of the season between Inter and Juventus according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Rocchi is one of the most experienced referees in Italy and is no stranger to either of the clubs who will participate in the fixture, a fixture which he has refereed on three previous occasions, most recently in the 2015/16 season.

Rocchi has refereed Inter on 34 occasions previously, just one time less than the 35 times he has refereed a match involving reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

He has refereed five games across all competitions this term, including one in both the Champions League and Europa League.

He has dished out no less than 22 yellow cards, an average of 4.4 yellow cards per game but he has yet to hand out a red card. He has also awarded four penalty kicks.
