Romelu Lukaku is targeting to return for this weekend’s first Derby D’Italia of the season against Juventus according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian striker missed last night’s Champions League group stage loss away to Barcelona due to a muscle problem, which Antonio Conte admitted that been bothering him for over a week in the pre-match press conference.

Conte had wanted the 26-year-old to at least travel and sit on the bench but the club’s record transfer signing preferred not to risk aggravating the injury and turning it into something more serious.

Instead, Lukaku remained in Milan and underwent a specialised training regime in a bid to get himself back fit for the match against the Bianconeri on Sunday night.

Lukaku, who has scored three goals in his first seven appearances for the Nerazzurri, will continue to follow such a plan for the next two days and his condition will be evaluated each day.
