Legendary Italian manager Arrigo Sacchi has shared his views on this past weekend’s first Derby D’Italia of the season, particularly focusing upon Inter.
“Juventus won, but Inter does not come out of it badly. The match came too early as neither the Nerazzurri nor the Bianconeri are yet at the top, it will take another month or two for that,” he explained in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Conte and Sarri are two very good coaches and are doing a great job. Both are trying to give their sides an identity, create pride and a sense of belonging. Juventus won the match on merit but the distance between themselves and Inter has shortened, so long as Inter’s willingness continues.
“Conte’s men, weighed down by the difficult confrontation with Barcelona and Sensi’s injury, failed to stop their great rival. Inter has plenty of room for improvement, given how young some of the players are, but they must never lack an extraordinary motivation and modesty.
“Antonio will have to work on the defensive line that has not always been coordinated. The three midfielders will in turn always have to find an active position on defence, to avoid counter-attacks too.
He concluded the interview: “The Nerazzurri team is not as competitive as the Bianconeri, but everyone will improve a lot if they follow their coach, who makes obsession a surplus of his ideas and intuitions.”
