Mario Corso has insisted that he hopes San Siro remains despite both Inter and AC Milan’s plans to build a new stadium to replace it.
“I am a romantic, I would not change the Giuseppe Meazza for any other stadium. I would keep it that way and solve the problems that exist with it. I understand that there are large profits at stake with a new stadium, but I still stick with my idea,” he said in an interview with Il Giorno.
“The new projects are beautiful and I think it is right to change and improve the stadium when necessary but I do not think San Siro is that bad.
“I still go to all the games and find it more and more beautiful every time I go. I played at San Siro for 15 years and have seen some of the most beautiful games in the world. Therefore, I think it is only natural that I want to see San Siro remain standing.”
He concluded: “It is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world, it would really be a sin to get rid of it.”
