In today’s paper edition of Il Giornale, they have urged Inter to do their utmost to avoid a repeat of the Nicolo Zaniolo situation with Sebastiano Esposito.
Inter picked up Zaniolo on the cheap from Virtus Entella in 2017 and he starred at youth level for the Nerazzurri, who then included him as part of the deal that saw them land Radja Nainggolan from Roma in 2018.
Whilst Nainggolan struggled to perform to expectations in the Nerazzurri shirt, Zaniolo blossomed – and continues to do so – with the Giallorossi.
Due to Alexis Sanchez’s ankle injury, which will keep him out for a few months, Esposito is set to be given a chance at Inter and has until Sanchez is back to stake his place for a permanent place amongst the first team.
The report urges Inter to use the 17-year-old Italian youngster and not just leave him on the bench to watch the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez play week in week out and to give him a chance.
“It’s time to dare, it’s time to really believe in the young, inexperienced, unripe, but talented and above all Italian Esposito,” the report states.
As per other reports in the media, Inter look like they wish to avoid the situation themselves with one report claiming they are preparing a new five year contract for him.
