In an interview with Inter TV, 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito reflected on his Champions League debut in last night’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
“I felt a fantastic emotion to debut at the San Siro in the Champions League, with all these people watching. I think it is the dream of every child who thinks of playing football. It was fantastic,” he said.
“I got the ball, controlled it well and then felt I would show off that side of my game. I am happy with my Champions League debut. The penalty came after I passed by two defenders but then maybe hit the ball too far ahead of me but then I put my leg between the ball and Hummels.”
He concluded by admitting he knows he must remain grounded and not get carried away: “I am happy to have played against great champions. I have to keep my feet on the ground though, my family taught me humility.”
