Speaking in Sky Sport Italia’s studios, former Inter defender Daniele ‘Lele’ Adani has reflected upon Antonio Conte’s outburst that followed the Nerazzurri’s 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

“The media coverage was excessive. Conte is protecting the team from an excess of compliments,” he began.

“Conte basically said the defects in the team can be found by playing against teams like Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, who are both on a high level.

“Conte had an outburst, but did not analyse the match. The team’s value is seen against the best teams. Inter don’t know if they are the third force in Italy because Roma are also a strong team.

“Conte is trying to tell the leaders that if they want to compete with Juventus in the league with this group, then he is already showing in the Champions League that right now it’s not possible. Conte, who is a great coach, began to talk about these problems after the victory in Brescia.”
