Inter target Christian Kouame has suffered a serious injury whilst with the Ivory Coast’s Under-23 squad, according to a report from Italian media outlet FCInterNews.it.
The report details how the 21-year-old Genoa striker suffered a rupture of his front cruciate ligament, a serious injury that will see him sidelined for around six months and will require an extensive rehabilitation period. Therefore, it’s unlikely that Kouame will appear again for Thiago Motta’s squad this season.
This will come as a blow to the Nerazzurri, who were considering acquiring the 21-year-old striker in the upcoming January transfer window, the report highlights. Kouame had started the season strongly, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 11 league appearances for the Rossoblu.
This was already an improvement on last season, where Kouame had scored four goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances for the Ligurian club, showing his growth after his debut season with the Rossoblu.
