Italy coach Roberto Mancini, present at the Social Football Summit in Rome, spoke to gathered reporters about the Italian national team and Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella, with the online edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reporting his words.

“We could only bring back the enthusiasm in this way, playing well. Then of course, the fact that we have won always helps. But we have not won anything yet, it is early, if anything we have laid the foundations.”

He then touched on the performances of Barella with the Azzurri.

“When he made his debut, he didn’t have much experience yet, yet now he’s one of the best midfielders in Italy.”

Finally, Mancini talked about the next steps for the Azzurri before next summer’s tournament.

“We’ll have friendly matches in March, we’ll see which national teams will be available, certainly high-end. Then winning or losing will count for little, the important thing will be to confirm our game and mentality. There’s not so much time.”
