Former Inter manager Marcello Lippi has spoken on why he thinks Inter have done so well this season and puts a lot of Inter’s success down to manager Antonio Conte.

“Inter are not a surprise. Conte is a commander and very good at motivating the group and has started out with great determination,” he explained in an interview with Corriere della Sera, which appeared in today’s print edition.

“Inter are doing very well and holding up against Juventus, who for me are still the favourite to win the title. Inter are high up in the table because they have good organisation and quality.”

Lippi, who is currently in charge of the Chinese national team, concluded: “Winning helps things. It is clear that with so many matches it is not easy, but I assume that after his requests, Conte will be satisfied in January. Going forward increases confidence, self-esteem and enthusiasm. All of these are key elements to win.”
