It was a must win match that was won after the Nerazzurri managed to get all three points away against Slavia Prague at the Sinobo Stadium.
A Romelu Lukaku goal sandwiched between a Lautaro Martinez brace, means that a win in the last match at home against a Barcelona who have nothing to play for, after having secured the group win, will be enough to play Champions League football after Christmas for the first time since 2012.
Samir Handanovic – 7: Unlucky not to save the penalty but aside from that another faultless performance by the Nerazzurri captain. A real leader.
Diego Godin – 6,5: Probably Godin’s best performance in an Inter shirt. Used all his experience, grit & intelligence keeping Olayinka in his back pocket.
Stefan de Vrij – 6: Late challenge to concede the penalty but picked himelf up by the bootstraps after that & was just as good as Inter needed him to be.
Milan Skriniar – 6: Physical, mean, aggressive with a winning mentality that is unique. Never gives up an inch even when he has been beaten.
Antonio Candreva – 6: Struggled against Slavia who successfully were able to prevent him from getting the ball in the areas he wanted but still put in a shift.
Borja Valero – 6: You have to respect his attitude & approach to the match. Struggled with the tempo & the Slavia’s physicality but never stopped trying.
Marcelo Brozovic – 6,5: Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Took a lot responsibility in a match where he dictated the tempo despite Slavia hounding him.
Matias Vecino – 5,5: Was caught in no mans land for much of the match due to how Slavia played. Was brought off in the 80th minute for Esposito.
Cristiano Biraghi – 6.5: Poor performance by the former Inter Primavera player, mainly because he was erased out of the match thanks to Slavia’s tactics.
Lautaro Martinez – 8: Death, taxes & El Toro scoring within the first 30 minutes of every football game he plays. Formidable partnership with Lukaku.
Romelu Lukaku – 9: World class performance by Big Rom both in every aspect. Responded to despicable racist abuse from the home fans with class.
Roberto Gagliardini – 6: Brought on in the 77th minute for Borja Valero & stabilized Inter centrally on the pitch allowing the others to focus on going forward.
Valentino Lazaro – 6: Came on in the 77th minute replacing Biraghi & was quite the injection the team needed to push forward to win the game.
Sebastiano Esposito – N/A: Replaced Vecino in the 80th minute but didn’t play enough to be able to be rated.
Antonio Conte – 8: Great coaching by Conte who made the right changes at the right time with a very depleted squad which changed the game.
Szymon Marciniak – 7: Very good performance by the referee who got all major decisions right.
Inter – 7,5: Strong performance by the Nerazzurri which means that a win against a Barcelona with nothing to play for secures the second spot.
