Inter are ready to offer Lautaro Martinez a new and improved contract as a reward for his continued improvement and his form so far this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 22-year-old striker has netted 11 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, which is already two goals more than what he managed in just about twice as many games last season, which was his first at the club.

He is currently under contract through to the end of the 2022/23 season but that contract has a €111 million release clause in it, which has Inter worried given Barcelona among others are seemingly courting him.

Inter wish to get rid of the release clause and will make the Argentine international an initial offer of €3.5 million plus bonuses per season.

This offer is likely to be returned to sender however with the Roman newspaper stating that the player’s agent wants his client to be paid €5 million.
