Inter and Barcelona will not meet to discuss Lautaro Martinez when the two clubs face one another in the Champions League according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Barcelona are understood to have taken a keen interest in the 22-year-old Argentine international as they seek out a long-term replacement for ageing striker Luis Suarez, who is coming up for 33.

Inter consider Lautaro as an important piece for the present and also for the future and therefore have no intention of letting him go.

Despite already being under contract until the end of the 2022/23 season, Inter wish to sign the former Racing Club player to a brand new deal, which could perhaps see a release clause entirely removed.

He has a €111 million release clause in his current deal, a figure that seems far too low especially in today’s market for a player who has done what he has so far and promises to do in the future.
