Piero Ausilio, Inter’s sporting director, has shared his delight at the fact the team currently find themselves leading the way in Serie A.
“To be sitting in first place is a pleasure, we enjoy being at the front and it it something that pleases everyone. Thanks to the staff and the players, who have given so much and made history,” he told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“The players feet must remain on the ground though, we need to continue to work with the same desire and awareness that we have been and not become presumptuous. As the manager has said, we only want to keep doing more.”
Ausilio then spoke on in-form strike partnership Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez who have combined for 24 goals this season.
“Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are a beautiful partnership. When we plan things we try to imagine them at their full potential and we immediately thought that they would be able to do what they are showing.
“They are repaying us from all points of view. They are serious guys who want to work and know that they can do so much more.”
He was then asked if there were fears that Lautaro Martinez could leave the club due to his €111 million release clause which many in the media have said is too low.
“He is someone who has chosen Inter and has played everyone and is repaying not only himself but above all us for our choice. He is fortunate to be trained by a great manager in Antonio Conte.”
