According to a report from Belgian news outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Inter could move for Dries Mertens amid continued interest from Barcelona in Lautaro Martinez.

The 32-year-old forward’s contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of the season and Inter manager Antonio Conte has told club management that he would like to see him signed.

Inter management would not object to the idea of signing Mertens, despite his age, due to the fact they wish to satisfy the needs of their manager, who has them currently sitting at the top of the Serie A table after 14 games played.

Lautaro Martinez has been in fine form this season netting 13 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions. His performances have not gone unnoticed with it widely reported that Barcelona are looking at the 22-year-old as a possible long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, whose contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
