Inter striker Lautaro Martinez shared his delight at how this season has went for him in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24.

“For me, Inter is my home. I spend most of my time here and the truth is that for me it matters a lot. People have shown me affection from day one and this is fundamental for me both as a player and a person, so I want to work and show with humility that I am worthy of wearing this shirt,” he said.

“My goal is to make the fans happy and my family too, who obviously offer the most support. They are certainly happy with how things are going and I am happy with what I’m doing.”

Next he spoke on how the team handle their preparation with them competing on multiple fronts this season.

“We always work during the week to face every game in the same way no matter the opposition. We work to show that we are Inter and we always want the three points. It is our goal, to think about match after match. I have always trained to be ready.”

He then discussed the difficulties he faced in his debut season with the club and how things are different this year.

“Last year we had a manager who played with only one striker in attack. Icardi was in front of me and that made it difficult for me to play. I always trained to the absolute maximum but I just knew that is how things were. I had the opportunity to play but not as much as I would have liked.

“Conte’s system really suits me. He is someone who treats everyone the same way and we must all train to the maximum in order to get to play. I am feeling good with Lukaku alongside me, he is a fantastic person even off the pitch. Our goal is to score as many goals as possible to help the team.”

He then spoke on his personal growth this season.

“So many of my countrymen have made history with this club. They have done extraordinary things and this is a great responsibility for me to carry this on. I still need to grow and work. I want to improve and I am happy because my work is paying off. Conte gives me great confidence and is making me grow day by day.”

In conclusion he spoke on Inter’s upcoming run of games.

“We always work to face any match in the same way as I have already said. We have to think about picking up every possible point, this is our goal. We are focused on the opponent and always giving the maximum for Inter and to help our team mates.”
