Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has spoken following the meeting between council officials and Inter and AC Milan relating to their new stadium and the future of San Siro, a meeting he was unable to attend.
“We need to find a formula that protects the City council from an economic and financial point of view,” he told reporters, as quoted by Calcio e Finanza.
“Then we must try to understand how San Siro can be saved. There are currently no clear ideas in this regard. What do I think of the idea of reducing San Siro to one tier? I like it but we need to understand if it is viable from a financial point of view.”
Asked about an independent evaluation that valued San Siro at just €100 million he responded: “I do not know but it is a non-political evaluation so I should think it probably is correct.”
