Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has already contacted Max Allegri, Gennaro Gattuso and Luciano Spalletti with regards to possibly succeeding Carlo Ancelotti as Napoli manager according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Reports in the media that Ancelotti is due to be sacked in the coming days have been rife and De Laurentiis has wasted no time in sounding out potential replacements for him.

Whilst Max Allegri and Gennaro Gattuso would be free to takeover the Partenopei, De Laurentiis would need to reach a deal with Inter for them to terminate the contract of Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti was relieved of his duties by Inter over the Summer and is still on the club’s payroll meaning that unless he agrees to a severance package, any interested club will have to deal with Inter.

AC Milan had tried to appoint Spalletti prior to the appointment of Stefano Pioli but Spalletti refused to accept what Inter offered him and the report from the Roman newspaper states that De Laurentiis is well aware that he will have to pay Spalletti handsomely.
