Javier Zanetti has shared his delight with the position Inter currently find themselves in but is well aware that there is still a long way to go and the team must keep working.
“The team are going through an important and very positive moment. We are in first place but we still have a lot of work to do. We must continue to work. The manager and the boys are doing well and another important match awaits them on Friday. We were aware that we could compete and we are succeeding,” he told the gathered reporters at a Pupi Foundation dinner last night.
He then spoke on Lautaro Martinez.
“I am not surprised because we were convinced that he would prove his worth. He works with humility and is an important asset to the club. He is an investment for the future. We are happy. I see him happy wearing the Inter shirt. We have to congratulate everyone because they work with dedication. We see a lot of spirit on the field.”
Next he discussed the January transfer window.
“Reinforcements? First of all, I’m sorry for the boys who are out due to injury, it’s not nice to lose them all in the same department. We have clear ideas and if the right opportunity presents itself we will move but only for players who will make us better.
“Rodrigo de Paul? He knows Italian football well, he has shown himself in good light in the last few years. Out of respect for those who are already here I prefer to say no more.”
In conclusion he spoke on manager Antonio Conte.
“I am happy with the work he is doing. Now that we have got to know each other and we spend so much time together, I understand his work culture.”
