Inter will meet with the representatives of Lautaro Martinez perhaps as soon as today as they look to kick-off new contract talks according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.
The Nerazzurri club wish to reward the 22-year-old striker with a new deal given his fine form this season and also hope that in doing so they will be able to deter the increasing interest from elsewhere in him, namely from Spanish powerhouses Barcelona.
Inter want to extend the Argentine international’s contract by a further two years meaning he would be under contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.
They are ready to more than double his current pay packet and give him an annual salary of €3.5 million. Moreover, they hope to be able to entirely eliminate a release clause from the contract or at worst, double it as an absolute minimum.
This season the former Racing Club striker, who is in his second year with the club, has netted 13 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.
