Despite multiple suggestions elsewhere, a report in today’s print edition of Roman newspaper La Repubblica states that Paris Saint Germain will not take up their option to sign Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis from Inter early.

Icardi has made a good start to life in the French capital with him having scored 10 goals in his first 13 appearances for the reigning French champions, who have an option to sign him for a sum of €70 million at the end of this season.

The report goes on to state however that his wife, and agent, Wanda Nara is hoping that her husband, and client, can return to Inter at the end of the season.

Icardi left Inter for PSG following months of controversy which led to relations breaking down entirely. Romelu Lukaku was brought in as his replacement and has scored 11 goals in 18 games whilst Icardi’s exit has also allowed compatriot Lautaro Martinez to blossom, with him having netted 13 goals to date.
