Chelsea full back Marcos Alonso could leave the South London club in the upcoming January transfer window, following the lift of the transfer ban imposed on the club, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the British tabloid the Daily Star.
The report details how the 28-year-old Spaniard has struggled for consistent playing time under new coach Frank Lampard so far this season, due to the English coach’s preference of playing younger players. Furthermore, the former Fiorentina full back is nostalgic for Italy and wishes to reunite with his former coach, Antonio Conte, at Inter.
The pair won the Premier League together in England with Chelsea in the 2016/17 season, the report highlights, and Conte would be happy to acquire the player in January in order to add more squad depth and give him more options in the wing back role. However, the Nerazzurri may face competition from Juventus for Alonso, although Inter are expected to hold the advantage.
