Diego Godin joined manager Antonio Conte on pre-match press conference duties to share his thoughts and feelings ahead of tomorrow’s match at home to Barcelona in the Champions League.

“The goal for us is tomorrow’s game. We are not thinking further than this because tomorrow will be the most important game for a team that is growing. These matches against important teams will make us grow and we need it,” the Uruguayan began.

“We have the enthusiasm and desire to do well, everything is in our hands. We will face a team that can win all that they want to. We have to think about doing our best in front of our own fans.”

Godin is no stranger to the Catalan club having played against them several times whilst with Atletico Madrid.

“I have faced Messi many times but everyone knows him. Tomorrow will be a team match, against a team full of great individuals. We want to minimise their quality and win.

“Barcelona are very strong, one of the best teams in the world in fact. We are not thinking about who will and will not play, we expect the best Barcelona to come here. We must focus on ourselves and prepare the best we can and try to win.

He was then asked about Barcelona’s reported interest in Inter teammate Lautaro Martinez with it understood that the Blaugrana are looking at him as a replacement for Luis Suarez.

“Luis is one of the best strikers in the world and having see Lautaro up close, I think he has grown so much because he feels so important.

“If he is being looked at by others it is because he is at Inter, who are one of the best teams in the world, and he is growing.

“We’re happy to have him with us. He has all the qualities to grow and improve more and we hope he will continue to do so.”
