Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has provided an update on the current situation with regard to the future of San Siro.

“In the end one stadium or another, I do not see any problems. It is clear that San Siro would not be abandoned before the new stadium is eventually ready, let’s see what happens,” he explained to the gathered media at an event relating to the 2026 Winter Olympics earlier on today.

“Things are still wide open. I say that San Siro is worth €100 million as a patrimony not just of money belonging to me, Beppe Sala, the mayor, but of the Milanese people.

“Obviously before saying it legally, I have to defend a patrimony that belongs to all of us. That said, I am willing to collaborate with the teams.”

He concluded: “What we need to do is find a formula which will not see the city council penalised.”
