Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has confirmed that striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is not in the club’s plans despite his sensational form whilst out on loan at Flamengo.

“He is a great player, but right now we have a large and high-quality group of strikers made up of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Alexis Sanchez, Sebastiano Esposito and Matteo Politano. Gabigol is not part of our plans, but has great value,” he explained in an interview with ESPN Brazil.

Marotta’s words would appear to be confirmation that Gabigol will leave in the club in the upcoming January transfer window with Flamengo widely reported to be his destination.

The Brazilian, who joined Inter for €30 million from Santos back in 2016, has scored 43 goals in 57 appearances across all competitions during his loan spell and various reports in both Italian and Brazilian media have stated there is an agreement in principle over his transfer.
